Foli released

Relief pitcher Dan Foli has been released by the York Revolution for undisclosed reasons, leaving York with 24 players on the active roster with the team slated to open the season in Camden, N.J. on Friday.

Foli enjoyed a decent camp, pitching two scoreless innings in a couple of spring outings, and Revolution officials declined to elaborate on the reason for Foli’s release.

Adam Gladstone, the Revs’ director of baseball operations, said he is in the process of filling Foli’s roster spot — most likely with another pitcher — and a move could be announced as soon as Thursday. York will work out at Sovereign Bank Stadium on Thursday afternoon before embarking on the trip to Campbell’s Field early Friday.

“I’m working on something right now and most likely it will be just one guy to replace Foli,” Gladstone said.

  1. Franklin Nunez?

He did say he was open to coming back, right? And he’s still available, right?

  2. We shall see tomorrow. I haven’t asked about Nunez in about a week, but I will be sure to at the workout.
