Game 24: York @ Newark (rained out)

When a team is on the type of streak the York Revolution has been on lately, a manager will gladly welcome an off-day courtesy of Mother Nature.

And that’s exactly what York and skipper Chris Hoiles got on Tuesday night at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium.

York has lost 11 of 14 games and 18 of 22 all-time against Newark, but the Bears will have to wait another day to resume their dominance over the Revs. Tuesday’s game was rained out and will be made up Wednesday as part of a doubleheader. The action will get underway in Newark at 5:05 p.m.

The postponement gives Wayne Franklin another day of rest — although other than Dave Gassner, Franklin is probably the starter most likely to not need the extra time off. Franklin (3-0, 3.68 ERA) will face Pat Stanley (1-0, 2.70 ERA) in Game 1 of the double dip tomorrow with Jason Olson (2-1, 2.38 ERA) taking on Will Cunnane (1-0, 6.00 ERA) in the nightcap. Olson (pictured), a traditional reliever, will be making the start in place of Aaron Myette, who has been shelled in his last two outings. Olson made one spot start last season for the Revs and went six innings while only allowing a run.

The Revs (8-15) are an abismal 1-10 on the road this year and are hitting .187 in those games. York averages just over three runs per game on the road while maintaining a .298 slugging percentage and .288 on-base percentage.
