More moves

It appears that the addition of Jake Daubert is only the start of many changes to come in the next few weeks for the York Revolution.

York made another roster move Tuesday — sending Landon Jacobsen to the Somerset Patriots. The Patriots had a need for a starting pitcher after ace Brandon Knight’s contract was purchased by the New York Mets’ Triple-A affiliate.

This transaction comes from a news release on the Atlantic League Web site. The release does not mention what the Revs will receive in exchange for Jacobsen, although this could be for the infamous “future considerations.” I hope to have more on this Wednesday.

Jacobsen, as you might recall, never appeared in a game for the Revs and was placed on the inactive list May 2. He was dealing with tendinitis in his throwing arm and it was clear he was not 100 percent after exerting so much energy in spring training with the Minnesota Twins. After being placed on the inactive list, he traveled home to be with his wife and family.

When Jacobsen was signed, it appeared he would bolster the back end of York’s starting staff. But the recent addition of Dave Gil made Jacobsen expendable. So why not trade him away to at least get something? Read more about Jacobsen in this post.

Foli re-acquired: The Revs have also re-acquired reliever Dan Foli, according to the Atlantic League transaction page. I heard from a source that Foli joined the Revs at Sovereign Bank Stadium Sunday, although he has yet to make an appearance since re-joining the club.

Foli was released for undisclosed reasons at the end of spring training and was replaced by reliever Travis Phelps. Now, it’s Foli who is replacing Phelps. Phelps was placed on the disabled list earlier this week.

This move is very telling of the current player market. York had to bring back a guy who was flat-out released at the end of spring training. But Foli did pitch well in spring training. He features a three-quarters delivery that makes his pitches very deceptive. For more on Foli, read this post.

  1. Foli pitched on Monday in So. Maryland. He gave up 1 hit & struck out 2.

  2. If Jacobsen is able to pitch anytime soon, I can’t see why the Revs would give him away. There are three pretty iffy spots in the rotation right now.

  3. I stand corrected. Foli pitched 1 1/3 Monday in a bit of mop up duty.

  4. i am wandering when pete munro will be back to pitch

  5. There’s no set timetable for Munro’s return. My guess is that we’ll see him sometime toward the end of the first half or in the beginning of the second half.

  6. so will he still show up with team when competing
